Victory Amps’ Martin Kidd sits down with Nick Jennison to unveil the Victory MKX — a seriously versatile new compact amp that might just become a new favourite in the Victory Guitar Amplifier lineup. Martin gives a full rundown of what makes the MKX special, including a proper, dedicated clean channel; a smooth, classic overdrive channel with switchable gain structures; dual master volumes; and a newly added reverb section with two highly convincing voicings.
The clean channel features its own EQ and level control, inspired by Martin’s MK Overdrive approach, with clear nods to the Cornford MK50 lineage. However, fans of the Victory Jack should feel right at home here, with familiar DNA while the MKX expands on those tonal foundations with greater flexibility and a more fully-realised clean channel. If you’re chasing everything from big, open cleans to fusion-y lead tones — with the ability to dial in British bite or keep things sweet and “Eric Johnson in a box” — the MKX is designed to feel great under the fingers and cover a huge amount of ground without relying on pedals.
Nick Jennison also gives a preview playthrough, showcasing some of the MKX’s tonal flexibility. Full review coming soon.
