Tony Iommi releases new single ‘Stormwatcher’ ahead of From The Dark album
Tony Iommi has released ‘Stormwatcher’, a crushing new track from From The Dark, his new solo album arriving October 23 via BMG.
Tony Iommi has released a new single, ‘Stormwatcher’, the latest track from his forthcoming solo album From The Dark, which arrives on October 23 via BMG.
Built around an unmistakably heavy Iommi guitar riff, ‘Stormwatcher’ features vocals from Jørn Lande, who also shares writing credits across the new record. The track arrives alongside an animated video centred on its maritime theme, following a ship caught in a storm.
Lande says the song uses that imagery to explore the challenges people encounter throughout their lives.
“It channels something from within, something real,” he explains. “We are the captain of our own vessel, a ship crashing through unknown and sometimes challenging waters, always navigating forward, steering steady through every storm, driven by dreams of new horizons and longing for something new.”
From The Dark sees Iommi joined by Lande alongside bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. The album was co-produced by Iommi and his long-time collaborator Mike Exeter.
The eight-track record follows Iommi’s recent standalone releases ‘Scent Of Dark’ and ‘Deified’, both of which will appear as bonus tracks on the deluxe CD edition.

From The Dark will be available digitally and across several physical editions, including double-vinyl versions pressed at 45rpm in black, red-and-black marble, white-and-black marble and transparent blue. CD options include a 32-page deluxe media book edition featuring the two bonus tracks.
The album marks another chapter in Iommi’s career following Black Sabbath’s Back To The Beginning farewell event in Birmingham in 2025. Earlier this year, the guitarist was also named an MBE for services to music and charity.
