Slipknot return with new single ‘Arsenal’ and Jackson White-starring video

Slipknot return with ‘Arsenal’, their first new song in more than three years, alongside a video directed by M. Shawn Crahan and starring Jackson White.

Slipknot have released a new single, ‘Arsenal’, marking the band’s first new song in more than three years.

The track arrives alongside an official music video directed by Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn Crahan, better known as Clown. The video stars actor Jackson White.

‘Arsenal’ finds the Iowa band working with the heavy, tightly wound sound that has defined much of their career, combining dense riffs, forceful percussion and Corey Taylor’s shifting vocal delivery. The song also draws on elements of metal, punk and hip-hop across its verses.

The release follows close to three decades of activity for Slipknot, whose music and visual identity have had a lasting influence across several generations of heavy music. Since emerging from Des Moines, Iowa, in the 1990s, the band have developed into an international festival and arena act while continuing to push variations on their established sound.

‘Arsenal’ is the first new Slipknot material in more than three years, although the information supplied with the release does not confirm whether the track is connected to a forthcoming album or wider project at the time of writing.
