Cort expands KX Series with KX500 Baritone for low-tuned guitar players

Cort goes low with the KX500 Baritone, combining a 28.03-inch scale, Seymour Duncan pickups, locking tuners and a $929.99 street price.

Cort Guitars has added a new baritone model to its KX Series, introducing the KX500 Baritone with a 28.03-inch scale length and a specification aimed at players working with lower tunings.

The guitar uses an okoume body topped with an English walnut veneer and is finished in Matte Natural Black Burst with an open-pore treatment. Its bolt-on neck is made from five pieces of roasted maple and walnut, with a D-shaped profile.

A Macassar ebony fingerboard has a 15.75-inch radius and carries 24 jumbo stainless-steel frets. Cort has also fitted teardrop position inlays and luminous side dots for improved visibility on dark stages.

Electronics come from Seymour Duncan, with a Sentient humbucker in the neck position and a Nazgûl at the bridge. Controls are kept relatively simple, with a master volume, three-way pickup selector and tone control. The tone pot also operates a push/pull coil split.

Elsewhere, the KX500 Baritone is fitted with a Cort hardtail bridge using a string-through-body design, along with Cort locking tuners and a Graph Tech Black TUSQ nut.

The guitar ships with D’Addario EXL157 strings in .014-.068 gauges and uses black hardware throughout.

Cort lists the KX500 Baritone at a street price of $929.99 USD. Further specifications and information on availability can be found via the official Cort Guitars website.
