“As a watch collector… a Silver Sky in turquoise is the perfect crossover.” John Mayer and PRS unveil Silver Sky Wild Blue Limited Edition
NAMM 2026: PRS unveils the John Mayer Silver Sky Wild Blue Limited Edition (up to 1,000 worldwide), featuring a first-ever matching headstock and the familiar 635JM spec with rosewood board.
With NAMM 2026 upon us, PRS Guitars has announced a new Silver Sky Wild Blue Limited Edition, a 2026 release capped at up to 1,000 instruments worldwide. The standout feature is a first for the line: a headstock finished to match the body color.
The new finish also places Wild Blue in rare company. PRS notes it’s only the third limited-run Silver Sky color to date, following Nebula and Lunar Ice.
Introduced in 2018 as the first PRS model built in collaboration with John Mayer, the Silver Sky arrived as a statement of intent: a vintage-leaning, single-coil-inspired design executed with PRS’s trademark consistency and attention to detail. In the years since, it has become a staple across live rigs and recording rooms, cementing itself as one of PRS’s most visible modern signatures. As the range has expanded, the identity has remained clear — familiar feel, articulate tones, and a spec set built around Mayer’s preferences.
John Mayer, who co-designed the instrument with PRS, said the turquoise-inspired shade has a personal tie-in beyond guitars: “As a watch collector, turquoise blue is a color that has always evoked excitement, so a limited edition Silver Sky in turquoise is the perfect crossover. I hope it brings a smile to both guitar players and watch enthusiasts alike.”
According to PRS, Wild Blue was one of the early prototypes in the PRS x John Mayer collaboration and has been in the wings since the Silver Sky’s original launch. Aside from the new finish and matching headstock, PRS says the model keeps the familiar Silver Sky blueprint players already know — including Mayer’s 635JM pickups, an alder body, 25.5” scale length maple neck, 7.25” fingerboard radius, and small bird inlays. The Wild Blue Limited Edition will be offered only with a rosewood fretboard.
