The Rolling Stones Release New Single “Jealous Lover” From Foreign Tongues
The Rolling Stones have released Jealous Lover, the latest single from their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues, featuring Steve Winwood on Rhodes and organ.
The Rolling Stones have just dropped “Jealous Lover”, the latest single from their forthcoming studio album Foreign Tongues.
The track was released on 26 June and follows previous single “In The Stars”, with Foreign Tongues due to arrive on 10 July via Polydor/Universal Music.
Where “In The Stars” leaned into upbeat pop-rock, “Jealous Lover” moves into a soulful R&B groove, led by a falsetto vocal from Mick Jagger and the guitar interplay of Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood.
The track also features Darryl Jones on bass, Steve Jordan on drums and percussion, and Steve Winwood on Rhodes and organ. Producer Andrew Watt adds electric guitar, acoustic guitar, synthesizers and piano, with Matt Clifford also contributing synthesizers.
Lyrically, “Jealous Lover” finds Jagger addressing an overly suspicious partner, bringing a mix of humour and bite to the song’s R&B feel.
The single offers another early look at Foreign Tongues, the band’s new 14-track album and the follow-up to 2023’s Hackney Diamonds. The Stones previously teased the album with “In The Stars” and opening track “Rough And Twisted”.
