DOD launches DRAG analog delay pedal with real-time delay and pitch manipulation
DOD’s new DRAG Analog Delay combines classic BBD delay with Rubbernecking, modulation and real-time pitch manipulation in a compact pedal.
DOD has released the DRAG Analog Delay, a new effects pedal built around an all-analog bucket brigade delay circuit and a collection of controls designed for manipulating delay time, pitch and modulation in real time.
The DRAG offers up to 750 milliseconds of delay, which can be extended to 1.5 seconds using its Rubbernecking function. Its main delay controls cover Time, Feedback, Level and Filter, alongside Drift and Friction controls for shaping modulation and the pedal’s more experimental performance functions.
Among those features are Rubberneck, SlideStop and Evade. SlideStop can bring the delayed signal to a halt before ramping it back up, while Evade provides additional movement behaviours including HopStop and Slide-n-Go. Rubbernecking links pitch changes to adjustments in delay time, producing octave-up and octave-down effects.
The modulation section offers sine, reverse saw, square and random waveforms, with light, medium and heavy intensity ranges. The Drift control adjusts modulation depth and speed, while the Curve control changes the character of the modulation.
A multi-function footswitch handles standard bypass duties and can also activate the Friction functions when held down. The pedal supports True Bypass as well as buffered bypass options with delay tails. An optional FS3X footswitch can be connected through the 3.5mm input to provide access to tap tempo, oscillation hold and modulation switching.
DOD has housed the pedal in an aluminium chassis with top-mounted jacks. It also features the reversible StagePlate, which can be set with either a Tire Tread Skid Pad for additional grip or a hook surface for attaching the pedal to a pedalboard.
The DRAG operates from a standard 9V DC power supply and measures 4.8 x 2.8 x 1.5 inches, with a stated weight of 0.67 lbs.
The pedal is available worldwide through local retailers and online, with a listed street price of $219.99 USD.
